Animal Farm – Thug Notes Summary and Analysis

What a do comrade?
I read your comments And this week on Thug Notes we goin’ ham
with Animal Farm by George Orwell It’s all gravy up at the Manor Farm ’til
one night a prize boar by the name of Ol’ Major has a trippy ass dream
So this porker hollars at his animal homies to preach some of that raw gospel
Major say that men are the only creature on the farm that consume ev’rything, but don’t produce nothing which means the only thing standing between the animals and righteous livin’ is stepping to and stomping their two legged oppressors Rebellion dawg One night the animals rise up and kick Farmer Jones n his boys straight to the curb Finally the boss of they own turf the animals redub this bad boy Animal Farm and lay down a new rap called Animalism Up in this crib the main verse is that “All animals are equal.” After the dust settle two pigs named Napoleon and Snowball start calling the shots Thing is they always gettin up in each other’s grill When some humans try to throw down and take back the farm those animals don’t play They straight beast these fools and send ’em packin Then Napoleon and Snowball start beefing about the idea of building a windmill When the other animals start sidin’ with Snowball Napoleon gets all crunk and chases ’em off the farm Another pig named Squealer start tellin’ ev’rybody that Snowball was nothing but a snitch and a traitor Now while all the other animals bustin they ass building a windmill the pigs realize that some of the swag they need they just can’t get on they own so they hit up their two legged enemies and start trading with them on the reg Over time the seven commandments of Animalism get
twisted little by little until one day only one remains all
animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others Eventually the pigs get so crooked that they start struttin’ exactly like humans walkin’ two legged with whips of oppression in hand And in the end there ain’t nobody who can tell the difference between pigs and humans Looks like we’re back where
we started Listen up comrade this book ain’t just a story about animals On the real Orwell dropping some mad allegory about the rise and fall of the Soviet Union See the pigs representin the top dogs of the
the Communist Party Napoleon stands for Stalin the Soviet dictator Whereas Snowball really be Trotsky the communist leader who’s beef with Stalin got his ass slung out of Russia Squealer’s smooth talking tendencies representin’ Pravda the newspaper that spit lies to the people in order to further Stalin’s cause Old Major’s a mix of Karl Marx, the O.G. commie theorist and Vladimir Lenin the brain behind the revoultion When Old Major preachin’ to the animals his rhyme got the same flavor as the end of the Communist Manifesto The communists openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions” Working men of all countries unite! Also the animal’s revolt in chapter 2 echoing the Bolshevik Revolution of October 1917 against the Tsar who be Mr. Jones in the story and the humans attempt to retake the
farm in Chapter four reppin the civil war between the Russian loyalists and Bolsheviks in 1918 Now of all things why did Orwell use animals to chop game ’bout Soviet Union? Well check this quote from Karl Marx’s economic and philosophical manuscript of 1844 The worker in this human functions no
longer feels himself to be anything but animal What is animal becomes human and what is human becomes animal. But Animal Farm ain’t just going off about one point in history This book offering some legit truths about
all humanity cuz no matter who you’re with power can corrupt your mind And even the realest homies like Boxer are liable to start worshipping a crooked ass leader But you know what’s mad ironic B? If you keepin’ it literal up in here the revolution that went down at Manor Farm was actually legit By definition a revolution ends where it began Cuz the porky players that stared out getting f**ked by their human oppressors are now the ones doing the f**king Yo show your colors and get yourself a Thug Notes t-shirt son See your ass next week playa

  1. There are very few humans on this planet who are not corrupted by Power. It nearly always becomes an end in itself.

  2. Except it never works. As thepeople who tore down the Berlin Wall aka "anti fascist wall " proved. The People are always manipulated by those who assume authority. Look at Ho LIE wood Celebrities Red Carpet privileged filthy rich hypocrites . They fuck your brains for a living get treated like ROYALTY but expect YOU to IDOLIZE THEM just like politicians. DO as they SAY not what THEY DO. And the Plebs just brainwashed suck it up. In East Germany the joke was "The state pretends to pay us, and we pretend to work". Socialism infantilizes people disincentivizes, cause the harder YOU work others who wont claim and get the same pitiful "reward". The Stazi used people informing on each other family colleagues neighbours , people could not relax trust each other paranoia. Why do you think our people came to the so called "FASCIST WEST " ? THE BERLIN WALL WAS A PRISON TO KEEP PEOPLE IN NOT THE SOCIALISTS LIE TO KEEP FASCISTS OUT.

  3. Fun fact im gonna spit to those who dont know russian. The newspaper's title "правда", translated in english, means "the truth". And the thing about the правда is that it told the правда, the whole правда, and everything BUT the правда

  4. "I didn't choose the thug life, the thug life choose me
    -Ben Shapiro
    #thuglife

I'm grabbin' one of those shirts tho.

  5. Wait, so if Snowball represents Trotsky why doesn't he travel to México and bang a bi artist

  6. Another ironic thing is that the pigs at the end were playing cards with those stupid capitalist pigs (pig is a slang for capitalist)

  7. Animal Farm is about so much more than Communism. It's about the nature of humanity and power, and how adding the later changes the former. It's very relevant to what we have going on today in America. The general populace is too blind to see how their current leader is even worse than those he rallied against. One of the greatest books ever written, in my humble opinion. The video was fun.

  8. Don't confuse Stalin's totalitarianism with Marxian economics . Marx was sympathetic towards the common man and woman . For one , he told us the truth about the fat cat owners and corporations always trying to get many times surplus value over what they pay the employees . We are working harder, more hours , and getting sicker and dying younger for less pay(adjusted for inflation) and cost of living become higher and higher due to the neoliberal economics era starting with reagan/thatcher and continued to this day including with those wall street democrats bill clinton and barak obama . We could use a dose of Marxian economics right now

  9. Fuck I never thought about that part of the literal definition of a revolution also being represented in the book

  10. have you seen the little piggies living piggy lives you can see them out for dinner with their piggy wives clutching forks and knives TO EAT THEIR BACON !

  11. Hah, this was pretty awesome. I just finished reading Animal Farm for the first time and I like how he even included the detail of Snowball being injured during the Battle of the Cowshed or whatever it was called. I also hadn't picked up just how closely some of the characters were to real people. Major being Marx and/or Lenin, yeah, I get that and I noticed it quite immediately. Napoleon being like Stalin? I could see some aspects but didn't make the connection to strongly but once we include Trotsky as Snowball, yeah, it's making a lot of sense. Also the Battle of the Cowshed being the 1917 Revolution and then Jones coming back ending up being the 1918 Civil War which as I recall, fresh after WWI, Canadian soldiers went over to support the White Russians, meaning the Loyalists, against the Marxist Reds. A shame we couldn't quite get rid of the leftists but at least now the Soviet Union, even with their various successes at different points of its history in the 20th century, now stands as a glowing example of how Marxism just doesn't work. If only the left weren't historically illiterate…

  12. Socialism is Communism Lite…. they just haven't gotten to killing millions when they first start… but they get there.

  13. Old Major's my spirit animal tbh

Also it's always fun to come to Animal Farm-related videos' comment sections and see the debates between those that understand what Orwell was about and those who constantly miss certain bits to twist the story in favor of capitalism. This depiction of socialism is indeed a complete failure, but because the corrupting force of power led to the pigs forcing themselves on top with all other animals being able to only watch as the pigs gradually become what they sought to destroy. Keep in mind that at first, life on Animal Farm was bangin, but the pigs developed a greater taste of the life left behind and began craving more. They begin commerce with people not to show that capitalism is the only functional system or to show an inevitability of capitalism, but this all shows that the nature of capitalism possesses a strong potential to corrupt and eventually separate socialist leaders from the ideology they supposedly uphold. Remember that Squealer's propaganda covers for every little thing, and that by the end the pigs become such brutal yet efficient leaders to where the other farmers decide to adopt the pigs' practice for themselves. I'm not in the mood to write a wholeass essay or to make this coherent, but there's some of my take.

  14. i think the word is sislicle- meaning the ending of somthing has started as the start had. sorry if I'm wrong or if that was confusing. Also writing an essay on 'how Orwell presents the character of boxer?' any help?

  15. Marxism makes the assumption that people will work for the satisfaction of work itself. But it really doesn't happen that way, many people are not satisfied or happy with their work (even if it is what they studied or preferred), or just work as a mean to get money nothing more and nothing less. When people that do not enjoy work as required by the system, see that they can get by without working, or do not get the fruits of their labor directly, they simply stop working, if they can. Or do a pantomine of working which is called bureaucracy.

  16. Another interesting – Napoleon is named after the actual napoleon as when napoleon had risen to power and named himself it was debatably even more of a monarchy then the monarchy the French had over thrown

  17. He’s rly smart and articulate but he’s being forced to act stereotypical and talk in that fake exaggerated accent… “thug notes” smh

  18. I don't want to criticize much about movies or novels but I'm sure The author will never know … Some pigs have … flew to space and "pooped" up the in head United States

  19. Bro just a heads up, in the October revolution the movement was against Kerenski and his provisional government. The revolution against the tsar was in February

  20. Boxer is the perfect example of the false equivocation fed to us by our capitalist masters. "work hard and you will be rich" no one worked harder than boxer and yet he died in poverty. Sounds like illegal immigrants who work hard and get shit on in the media by the very same corporations that hire them. "Be loyal to the establishment" no one was more loyal than boxer, sounds like our loyal veterans who are now on the streets homeless. Despite both of his virtues he lacked the third virtue of intellect. That was his downfall. Intellectualism is something our political leaders want us to believe is not a virtue while they themselves attended Ivy league colleges. Strange, eh? Educating oneself and forming ones own opinion is looked upon as a snobbish endeavor to these people because then they cease to control you. I quote the awesome theramintrees channel on youtube " people who don't want you to think, are never your friend."

  21. I like this guy okay, but I'm not quite sure what he's getting at in the end. If revolution is pointless because 'power corrupts' or 'human nature' or whatever then why bother trying to improve society at all?

Orwell was a socialist all his life and I find it hard to believe the point of 'Animal Farm' is 'don't bother.' Sadly I think the that 'Animal Farm' and '1984' are often abused as anti-communist/socialist propaganda. A tool for the capitalists. Oh well, gotta keep pushing on.
