Bluto’s Big Speech – Animal House (9/10) Movie CLIP (1978) HD

Looks like I missed something.[Boon]
Yeah, you did.We’re all officially
kicked out of school.Wormer just got our grades.[Otter]
They kicked us out of school?Huh! That makes sense. Hey! What’s this
lyin’-around shit? What the hell are we
supposed to do, you moron? War’s over, man.
Wormer dropped the big one. What? Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over
until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans
bombed Pearl Harbor?Hell, no!
Germans? – Forget it. He’s rolling.
– And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the goin’ gets tough… the tough get goin’! Who’s with me?
Let’s go! Come on! Heeeeyyyy! What the fuck happened
to the Delta I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? This could be the greatest
night of our lives… but you’re gonna let it
be the worst. “Oh, we’re afraid to go with you,
Bluto. We might get in trouble.” Well, just kiss my ass
from now on! Not me!
I’m not gonna take this! Wormer? He’s a dead man! Marmalard? Dead! – Neidermeyer?
– Dead. Bluto’s right.Psychotic,
but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now, we could fight ’em
with conventional weapons… but that could take years
and cost millions of lives. No. No, in this case… I think we have to go all out. I think this situation
absolutely requires… a really futile
and stupid gesture… be done on somebody’s part. We’re just the guys to do it. – Let’s do it.
– Let’s do it! [All Yelling] Go! Go! Go! Go! Go!

  1. At the end of the film its said that Bluto became a Senetor. I'd really like to believe he became the president further on

  2. I WAS IN A COLLEGE FRATERNITY IN THE MID 1970'S AT BALL STATE UNIVERSITY. WHEN THIS MOVIE CAME OUT SOME FRAT BROTHERS OF MINE SAID I HAD TO SEE THIS MOVIE. SO I WENT AND SAW TO ME AMAZEMENT MY COLLEGE FRAT LIFE BEING PLAYED OUT ON THE SCREEN. I WAS THE BLUTO CHARACTER TO THE T. SOME OF MY FRAT BROTHERS FIT A FEW OF THE OTHER CHARACTERS AND OUR FRAT HOUSE WAS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE FRAT HOUSE IN ANIMAL HOUSE. STILL GET CHILLS SEEING THIS MOVIE!

  3. I watch this whenever I feel like I'm failing at life. It's actually a lot more motivational than I think the writers were going for.

  4. Looking at Bruce McGill in this compared to him on Rizzoli and Isles. Wow! Makes me realize just how much time has passed.

  5. When this film was test-marketed in select theaters, the producers went to see the crowd reaction where one was in some college town and the place went ape-shit. It was then that realized they hit the jackpot…

  6. My drunk ass once recited this at a friends house and ran out of the room like him to grab more beer, great memory

  7. Looking back, decades later director John Landis & The Nation Lampoon handled this movie totally wrong. In spots where he wanted laughter based on racial situations, they instead were unfunny, racist situatuons. The group – with the college girls, go into a black club, eventually run out – crashing into the black patrons cars, & not one hrother came out to chase them – or shoot at them. Bullshit! White privaledge, & Landis didn't understand how ridiculous that was. Conversely, when Mel Brooks made Blazing Saddles, it was intentionally racist, but done so in a manner that worked, & worked perfectly. A black sheriff hired in a town of racist, hicks? With racial jokes and RACIST jokes, intentionally put in the script. But it remains as one of the funniest comedies of all times. Mel Brooks understood how it was done – John Landis (at least at that time), didn't.

  8. My father is literally stuck doing the whole "we don't wanna go with you Bluto" thing for any situation he can apply it to, please help

  9. Literally here because in Hells kitchen S18E5 a chef named Trevor quoted the Pearl Harbor line as the red team tried to rally and the entire comment section thought he was serious about the Germans.. It was glorious how many people missed the reference…

  10. They used to play this clip at the old Yankee Stadium when the Yanks were losing in order to wake the team and fans up. 🙂

  11. I believe this movie is the reason why everyone is now in college never mind needing a degree for a job it’s this movie bc everyone wanted to experience this

  12. This movie came out at a time when the funniest movies were Gene Wilder or Woody Allen movies. This movie changed everything. Still probably the funniest movies of all time.

  13. How many techno tracks have sampled this?

Answer here: ______ (or just close your eyes and think of "Dallas".)

  14. I had this speech as a ringtone back during my flip-phone days. I wish I could do those ringtones with my iPhone!

  15. I really grew to hate this movie, because my dad always, ALWAYS, quoted, "This could be the best day of our life's. And you want to make it the worst." After the 437,578 time, I just couldn't take it anymore. Shame.
